A day in the life of … Paul Boyes, Labour Coordinator

Meet Paul, the one who makes sure our electricians know exactly what they are doing on a day to day basis. As well as making sure the BCS crew are in the right place, Paul also co-ordinates the equipment and supplies they need for the day.

Starting at 7am, Paul meets the team for an update then sends them on their way to jobs which spread across Yorkshire. As busy Leeds electrical contractors, Paul’s job is to be on hand during the day, not only for our electricians but to co-ordinate their work with the client and sub-contractors. Projects from domestic work up to working on site for a large commercial job.

“Basically I make sure everyone has a place to go.  From organising the job to the kit they need for the day. I work with Mick, in Stores and Purchasing to order what we need, keep stocks in check. On a good day, everything runs smoothly. On an even better day, the phone doesn’t ring which means everything is going to plan!”

Paul started his electrical apprenticeship when he was just 16 years old at BCS Electrics. After completing 7 years, with 7 years on top of that at another firm, he returned 2 years ago to work on site and is now in the office.

Paul puts down having good organisational skills as key to the job. As well as being able to talk to people and have a good sense of humour!
