Meet Craig, the one who answers the phone with a friendly BCS Electrics’ warm welcome. Craig joined us over three years ago as an office apprentice, supporting Tony Barnett, our Finance Director. As well as invoicing, payroll and purchase orders, Craig also helps with stationary orders, wages, timesheets and administration work.
“After leaving school, I started work in another office, with BCS Electrics as my second apprenticeship. As I enjoyed maths, I wanted to get into finance so it was good to be placed with Tony. I have learned a lot and do all sorts now, taking on more and more responsibility. The best things about working here is the people (of course!) and the Team Days. One at Yorkshire Outdoors was really good, particularly the quad biking. It didn’t end up too well though, when I let go whilst 6 feet in the air, with the quad bike going in one direction and me in the other!”
A typical day for Craig starts at 8.30am where he checks the bank to see what’s happing. Then he’ll work on the time sheets left by the electricians. Following that, it’s to get on with what keeps the office running smoothly and ensuring everything (and everyone) gets paid.
Craig’s advice for anyone wanting to join this busy Leeds electrical contracting company is, “this is by far the most welcoming and friendliest place for anyone who hasn’t had the best start in their working life. That you can pick up and be appreciated really quickly for doing a good job.”
